Why do you go to Anderson Hall

What do you hope to see there today

A movie or a play

Why do you go

No light shines at all

Is there music or setting on the stage

Don't actors ever age

I know the lights call you on

To give your final performance

And when the curtain comes down

You hope for a standing ovation

You hope the people throw roses to you

And so you go with great expectations

And hope the lights haven't faded away

You need them today

But you find no more standing ovations

There are no roses or media fuss

Well it smells like a bus

And though the show must go on

You take a long intermission

And when the second act's begun

You sneak through the stage door to the alley

And make your way out

Into the heartless night

And so the orchestra

Has played its final chord

The stage is bare at Anderson Hall

Why do you go to Anderson Hall

What do you hope to see there today

A movie or a play
