Once in the woods slept a maiden
Pretty flowers in her hair
And as I approached she awakened
In the darkest of all despair
I asked her, "What have you been dreamin'?
Pretty maiden, please tell me."
She said that she had been a bluebird
Flying high and flying free
And, oh, for the birds in the sky
She felt like she wanted to fly
But something inside held her on the ground
It was all around like birds in the sky
I told her there's nothing to flying
Just as long as you are free
But I will say that there's no denying
There is no one who flies like me
She asked me just what I was saying
Was I playing with her mind?
I said that it's not like the bluebird
This is one, yes one of a kind
